What if homeschool enrichment actually felt enriching?
Wildwood isn't trying to squeeze five days of school into two.
We don't spend our days working through math worksheets or completing independent curriculum that could just as easily be done at home.
Instead, we save our time together for the things that are better done together.
We investigate big questions. Conduct experiments. Build things. Read wonderful books. Explore history through the people who lived it. Make art and music. Solve problems. Work with our hands. Spend time outside. Learn from interesting people.
And sometimes we follow a question simply because everyone desperately wants to know the answer.
Wildwood is enrichment on purpose.
A Day at Wildwood
Our days have rhythm without being ruled by the clock.
We begin together with Morning Meeting, then move into immersive Science and History Encounters designed around big ideas rather than a checklist of facts to cover.
Students might spend weeks observing something they've created, testing an idea, researching a question, constructing a historical project or trying to solve a problem that stubbornly refuses to cooperate.
After lunch, we slow things down with Read-Aloud & Handwork.
We read a good book alongside drawing, crochet, embroidery, weaving and other quiet work.
Throughout the week, there's also art, music, outdoor time, House projects and plenty of room for something unexpected.
A guest speaker. A field trip. A fascinating documentary. A spontaneous experiment. A magnificent failure that sends us straight back to the drawing board.
Because sometimes the best learning begins with:
“Wait...what would happen if we tried this?”
Science & History
The Wildwood Way
We would rather explore a few fascinating things deeply than rush through dozens of them superficially.
Our Science and History Encounters are designed around larger themes that give children time to investigate, experiment, build, research, discuss and create.
Science becomes something children can observe, test and interact with.
History becomes a world they can investigate, reconstruct and experience.
We don't just want students to remember what they learned.
We want them to do something with it.
Three Houses.
One Challenge.
Figure It Out.
Every Wildwood student belongs to a mixed-age House.
Throughout the semester, Houses receive challenges, and we don't necessarily tell them how to solve them.
Students have to brainstorm, collaborate, experiment, negotiate, fail, adapt and try again.
During alternating weeks, Houses turn their attention toward character. Instead of merely talking about virtues such as courage, generosity, perseverance and compassion, students find tangible ways to practice them.
Because character isn't something you complete on a worksheet.
It's something you do.
Childhood Needs Breathing Room
Not every minute needs an objective written on a whiteboard.
There is time at Wildwood for stories. Handwork. Conversation. Outside play. Art. Music. Friendship. Laughter. Rabbit holes.
There is room for an adult to say, “I don't know. Let's find out.”
There is room for a project to take longer than expected because the children aren't finished with it yet.
There is even room for something to have absolutely no measurable educational outcome beyond:
That was really cool.
We think childhood needs some of that, too.
Why Wildwood?
There are many ways to homeschool, and many wonderful programs serving homeschool families.
Wildwood doesn't try to replace what you're already doing well at home.
Instead, we concentrate on the things that can be difficult to recreate there:
A real community. Mixed-age friendships. Collaborative projects. Group problem-solving. Science that can stay set up for weeks. Big messy builds. Art and music. Shared stories. Service. Interesting adults with interesting things to teach.
You remain in charge of your child's core education.
We'll give them two days filled with things worth wondering about.

Wildwood Curiosity Studio is a supplemental homeschool enrichment program. Parents remain responsible for their child's core education.

Studio Sessions
Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday
Mixed-age studio sessions where students explore ecosystems, hands-on science, living history, nature study, handicrafts, and creative projects. Students work in Houses to complete challenges and learn about character building.

Class size: 16 participants per session
Seasonal Workshops (ages 5+)
Exciting workshops focused on the seasons that explore nature, ecosystems, science projects, gardening, seasonal themes, and handicrafts.
Length: 1.5-3 hours
Typical Days Offered: Select Fridays and Saturdays
Pricing: $45-$55 depending on the workshop

Sarah Nuss
Wildwood Curiosity Studio was created by Sarah Nuss, an educator for over 20 years and lifelong lover of nature, creativity, and hands-on learning.
For many years Sarah worked closely with homeschool families and children who learn best through curiosity, exploration, and real-world experiences at her farm, Jubilation Farms, and in a variety of other settings.
She believes that children thrive when they are given time to observe the natural world, create with their hands, and follow their curiosity.
Wildwood was created to be an engaging studio environment where curious learners can explore science, history, ecosystems, handicrafts, and creative projects in small mixed-age groups.
